For culinary connoisseurs, the name Alain Bianchin rings a bell. He is not very well known to the general public yet, but that will not last much longer. For 3 years now, Bianchin has been building his gem in the wooded surroundings of Overijse. We went to test it!

Alain Bianchin has had a wonderful career. For 13 years, he was cooking alongside Pascal Devalkeneer at Chalet de la Forêt, where they cooked their way to 2 Michelin stars. After that Bianchin chose a diversion via La Villa Lorraine, another Brussels institution, where he once again gave the restaurant the Michelin star it had lost earlier. Then Alain decided it was time to go for his own glory in a charming building in Overijse.

Just off the Brussels ring road, near the Sonian Forest and the Four Arms Crossroads, Alain has set up a cosy restaurant that can seat about 40 people. Bianchin clearly opts for an intimate approach which allows him to focus on fresh products. This was immediately clear when he filleted a large fresh tuna for us, while we were just tasting his refined snacks!
We enjoyed Bianchin’s pure cuisine which does full justice to the product. Delicious oysters from St-Vaas-La Hogue came freshly served on our plate. In another dish it was a nice langoustine, rarely eaten such a large and tasty one, together with a delicious piece of lobster. Top. And then finally that delicious freshly caught tuna arrived on our plate! Bianchin conjured up a wonderful dish in which all combinations tasted wonderful!

Bianchin masters his cooking times and flavour combinations like a top master. Something he demonstrated gracefully in first the line perch and then the smoked duck. What beautiful dishes!

Conclusion: for all those who want to discover a (relatively) new culinary gem in the Brussels green belt and enjoy delicious product cuisine at star level: Alain Bianchin in Overijse is definitely the place to be. More than worth a diversion to Overijse!
