Belgium, the country of fries. Of course we should celebrate this with a National French Fries Day and that day is today, 1 August! By the way, did you know that Belgium is the biggest producer of fries in the world and that we are the only country with a fries museum? I don’t think we need to question the origin of ‘French fries’ any further. Read on below to discover the 8 most iconic French fries in the country!

FRITURE RENÉ – ANDERLECHT
Ger checked tablecloths, a newspaper menu and a brasserie decor make Friture René one of the best addresses in our capital. Since 1987, it has been run by the same family. In the kitchen, father Dirk Piolon works wonders in his rather limited work space, while son Nicolas surprises you with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. FRITURE RENÉ – ANDERLECHT
What makes Chez Vincent different from other frituurs? Well, the fries are fried exclusively in a refined combination of pure vegetable oils, high in omega 3 and polyunsaturated fatty acids. These oils are healthier than animal or vegetable fats, which contain a lot of saturated fats. In addition, they have been awarded the ‘Verantwoord Frituren’ label and a score of 13/20 from Gault Millau. In addition to the health aspect, they also focus on luxury. Yes, luxury. On the one hand, this is reflected in the quality of the products, such as the shrimp croquettes packed with grey shrimp, the freshly cut fries and hamburgers made of 100 per cent meat. On the other hand, the interior has a luxurious look, comfortable leather seats, nice big pictures on the wall and not to forget, cava on the menu!
