La Dotta lets you enjoy Italian culinary delights (Groot-Bijgaarden)

When we are in the outskirts of Brussels, we like to make a diversion to Groot-Bijgaarden. Not only does this municipality breathe green tranquillity, but it also has a nice range of accessible but tasty places to eat. Ideal for a business lunch but also for a pleasant evening out. One of our absolute favourite addresses was Eat & Geniet, run by two brothers. After more than 10 years of working together intensively, the brothers decided that they wanted to go their separate ways. One of the brothers, Anthony, decided to stay and gave the premises and concept a total makeover: meet La Dotta!

The bistro of old made way for an Italian Osteria & winebar. The façade as well as the interior were given a serious pimp. In the new building you immediately get a warm feeling. Premium materials and furnishings were chosen. In the centre of the restaurant there is now a barrel, where you can drink your first glass of wine together with some antipasti. The kitchen was also opened up, so from the hall you can see the team in all its activity.

At La Dotta they resolutely opt for an Italian culinary approach. This translates into a menu in which you can literally go on a journey through the Italian boot. The same goes for the wine list where Anthony and his wife, who is a maître, do full justice to the Italian wine culture. The couple chooses a combination of accessible and quality wines. There is a nice offer by the glass but also the better bottle is attractively priced.

La Dotta offers a strongly priced business lunch every day for 20 euros for starter and main course. However, we went for our own choices on the menu. Just like the wine list, it breathes Italian art de vivre. We enjoyed a delicious fish soup with mussels followed by a crispy swordfish with Sicilian pasta. To lick off your fingers and thumbs. We will definitely be back!
