Food makes you feel good! Unfortunately, during these dark days, the need to visit a restaurant is greater than usual, but we found a solution. Bring the gastronomic experience to your dining room with these take-away hotspots.
1. COOKING – WILLEM HELE – BISQUE
Once upon a time, he started out with an eight-person guest table in a fisherman’s house in Oostduinkerke. Three years ago, Willem Hiele and his wife Shannah opened their dream restaurant Zeebroek in his parental home in Koksijde, which dates from 1832. The North Sea runs through the blood of this purebred West-Fleming. The speciality of this roughneck is his shrimp bisque, a fish soup based on North Sea shrimps caught and delivered by the horse fisherman a few kilometres away. Hiele finds his inspiration in the back garden where he grows his own vegetables and prepares fish on open fires. Rummaging through his grand uncles’ cookery books, he managed to perfect his menu.

Every weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun), this North Sea chef organises a market in his garden called “Boetiek Raphaël“. Here you can find the most fresh vegetables, bread, organic wine, game, pizza and of course his famous shrimp bisque.

If you like to conjure up the North Sea on your own plate, you can do so with the help of Hiele’s most recent book “Zeevuur/Seafire”. During this intuitive adventure you will learn the tricks of the authentic North Sea kitchen. An ideal gift to put on your Christmas list

2. ANTWERPEN – LEWIS – KRAAMPJES
In the heart of Antwerp near the Museum of Fine Arts lies Lewis. This pure and raw characteristic restaurant is run by chef Thomas Snijders. In non-corona times, you could enjoy a brutal interior finished in red neon, a nod to the former rendezvous hotel. Now Chef Snijders brings the ambiance to the customers with a weekly food stand. The on-the-go take-out can range from smoke buns to pita, to fish and chips. Make no mistake, even with this simple fast food, the Lewis chef knows how to surprise you. If you can’t get enough of this culinary trip, you can still choose from the full menu of main dishes.

If you would have preferred to exchange the rain and winter food for the Mexican sun this autumn, then this is your chance. Chef David Cantré and creative brain Céline Buysse knew how to bring the Tulum-vibes to perfection in their Restaurant Blanco. They too went original and created a take-away menu with tacos for everyone. Through the QR-code on the accompanying menu you can find a music playlist with Blanco-tunes to bring the Southern atmosphere to your living room. This combined with a natural wine, a local beer or a cocktail is the beginning of an unforgettable evening.
