Den Bosch, a beautiful city in the south of the Netherlands, has added a new gem to its impressive collection of hotels – Hotel The Den. Part of Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio, the hotel recently opened its doors and features 160 rooms in a variety of categories. One of the highlights of Hotel The Den is the Current Rooftop – the newest hotspot in town – located on the ninth floor of the hotel. In this article, we take you inside Hotel The Den and Current Rooftop and introduce you to this hotel’s beautiful design elements, comfortable accommodations, tranquil surroundings, great cuisine and breathtaking views.
As you step into Hotel The Den, you are immediately greeted by its stylish and modern design that reflects the city’s historic water canals. The hotel logo is based on the water map of the city’s rivers (the Binnendieze) and this theme is used throughout the hotel. There are many organic shapes and flowing lines, and the color copper plays an important role in the interior. This is a reference to the Palace Bridge to which the hotel is directly connected. The design of Hotel The Den is a perfect blend of local culture and international allure, combining distinctive design elements with modern amenities.

Hotel The Den is managed by the Odyssey Hotel Group and is one of the newest hotels in Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio. It is a nod to the city of Den Bosch, whose residents are known as “Bosschenaren. The hotel management has tried to embrace and honor the local Burgundian lifestyle. This is why guests of the hotel can enjoy comfort food with American influences throughout the day at the signature restaurant & bar The Den. Whether you fancy a nice cup of coffee, a good glass of beer or a delicious dinner, you’ve come to the right place.
The hotel has two restaurants and three bars of which Current Rooftop is the newest. This is a cosmopolitan venue on the ninth floor of Hotel The Den and is supposed to be the sexiest rooftop in the Netherlands. Here you can go for a drink or a delicious meal while enjoying the beautiful view of Den Bosch and its surroundings. The sky bar is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the lively atmosphere. The interior of Current Rooftop is a mix of gold, purple, black and plants, and the leather-clad bar is the centerpiece of the space. There is also a large restaurant with a bar and on either side of the rooftop terrace, where you can enjoy lunch, drinks or dinner. A cocktail at the bar overlooking the city is an experience not to be sneezed at!

Cosmopilitan vibes at the rooftop ‘current restaurant’
The Current restaurant’s dishes are surprising and have an international twist. Head Chef Erwin Oudijk is the man behind Current Rooftop’s extensive menu. With his experience as co-captain of the kitchen at the star restaurant Wils in Amsterdam, he strives to bring down the same level at Current Rooftop. Oudijk has a passion for cooking on an open fire, which he discovered during his stay in Australia. At Current Rooftop, this passion is applied in many of the dishes prepared on an open fire, with smoke, wood and charcoal being used frequently. Although Current Rooftop has a cosmopolitan feel, many products are sourced from local suppliers who produce with the seasons, contributing to the sustainability of the dishes. The dishes served were all of excellent quality although it should be noted that this restaurant is not geared toward families with (difficult to eat) children. The only dish that could please our two kids was an out-of-this-world and pricey sirloin steak (700 grams sic!) with fries. The hotel, which otherwise certainly does cater to children, could definitely gain points here by developing a small menu for kids.

Comfortable sleeping in beautifully designed rooms
Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms is one of the most important things about a Hotel. Not as bad as paying a lot of money for a bad night’s sleep. At least you don’t have to worry about that at Hotel The Den.
The rooms are spacious and offer a high level of comfort. The bed was extremely comfortable and ensured a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was also very clean and modern. The shower was lovely and the presence of several high-quality toiletries was a pleasant surprise. The room was equipped with all conveniences, such as a Nespresso machine and a minibar. The blackout curtains ensured that we were not awakened by sunlight in the morning.

delicious breakfast in beautiful design
Breakfast at Hotel The Den is an experience in itself. It is served at Restaurant & Bar The Den and offers a wide selection of delicious dishes, both hot and cold. There is something for everyone, from fresh croissants and rolls to fresh fruit and yogurt. A variety of cereals and granola are also available, along with hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. Breakfast is definitely worth booking in, as it is not only very tasty, but also provides a good start to the day while exploring Den Bosch. The friendly and attentive service of the staff makes breakfast even more special and adds to the overall experience of staying at Hotel The Den.

Conclusion: Hotel The Den is a wonderful place to stay if you’re planning a city trip to bustling Den Bosch. It gives you nice cosmopolitan vibes and lets you bathe in a stylish interior. We will definitely come back to both Den Bosch and this hotel!
