This movement started in America in 2015 but by now you can find these houses all over the world. You’ve probably seen them in the form of a tiny bungalow or a house on wheels. But they can also be different. That’s why we’ve listed 10 unique tiny houses for you.

The first tiny house on this list is this “Flying Fermette” from Ici. This modern tree house was designed and realised by Hogerhuis. If you want to see this flying fermette, you have to go to the Walloon village of Humain and look up, because between the treetops you will find this fermette at 3 metres above the ground. This tiny house has an area of 31 m² and is fully equipped with all the comforts of a classic fermette.

This tiny house that you can find in the middle of Tokyo is the “LOVE2 HOUSE”. This small house of 18.84 m² was designed and inhabited by architect Takeshi Hosaka. The LOVE2 HOUSE was designed so that the two curves of the roof form a large sculptural skylight that allows direct light into the house in all seasons. The house contains three large areas a dining area, a kitchen and a bedroom.

This small house is “Grain-Silo-House”. The 1950 grain silo was transformed into a house by the American architect Christoph Kaiser. This tiny house has an area of 31 m² and is located in Phoenix, Arizona. The house consists of 2 floors and the beautiful wooden interior is made of recovered walnut planks. The interior of this silo is specially designed to fit perfectly into the round shape.



sneci
The next house is this cute houseboat called “Sneci”. This tiny house of only 6 m² sails on the eastern Hungarian Lake Tisza and was designed by architect Tamás Bene. While designing this houseboat, Bene was inspired by the lake, the local fishing boats and waterfront huts. The exterior of this boat is mainly made of wood and aluminium. The interior consists of 2 flexible spaces and is equipped with a kitchen, a dining area and a sleeping area.


the ecological living module (elm)
This is “The Ecological Living Module” designed by Gray Organschi Architecture in collaboration with the Yale Center for Ecosystems in Architecture. This self-sufficient 21 m² tiny house was created in just eight weeks and was exhibited in New York. The ELM was built from renewable, biogenic materials and systems and also uses traditional techniques to save energy. This tiny house has a façade designed to provide planting. The interior is made of wood and contains sleeping accommodation for four people, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.

the airship002
“The Airship002” is a futuristic tiny house that you can visit in the Scottish Highlands. Designed by Roderick James Architects, this spaceship is only 37 square metres and yet it is perfect for two people to live in. This tiny house is made of aluminium, stainless steel and a glass wall that allows you to see the beautiful environment. In the house you imagine yourself on a real ship with an interior that is divided into two rooms, a bedroom with living room and a kitchen with a bathroom.



quintessential
In the Kaluga region of Russia you can find this metal tiny house called the “Russian Quintessential”. This tubular house designed by architect Sergey Kuznetsov has a diameter of 3.5 metres and a length of 12 metres. The foundation of this cabin is buried in the hill on which it stands, making it seem to float above the landscape. The exterior of this tiny house is made of stainless steel and the interior is minimalist with walls clad in light wood.


ecocapsule
The next tiny house on this list is the “Ecocapsule®”. This capsule has a surface area of only 8.3 m² with an exterior made of insulated fibreglass and a steel frame. The interior of this futuristic home is modern, minimalist and fully equipped to accommodate 1 to 2 people. This egg-shaped caravan can pop up anywhere and is fully powered by solar panels and has a small wind turbine. You can currently visit this capsule at the Dubai Expo.



tera
This futuristic, environmentally conscious, luxurious pod is “Tera”. “Tera” was designed by NASA award winners AI SpaceFactory. The pod was developed for Mars but adapted to be comfortable on Earth as well. This tiny house is currently being printed-3D with renewable and recyclable materials on the Hudson River near New-York where it will later be rented out as hotel rooms. The interior of this pod is made of birch and poplar, which evokes the feeling of a tree house. Can’t wait to see this futuristic house? Before tiny house designer Kristie Wolfe turned this potato into a hotel, it toured America for seven years on the Big Idaho® Potato Truck Tour. Inside the giant potato, you’ll find a 31-square-metre luxury hotel room with modern amenities, a perfect retreat for two.
