Our housing specialist Bjorn Cocquyt has been visiting leading properties and real estate projects at home and abroad for more than 10 years. In our Pureliving section, he gives his vision of exclusive living.
You often hear that the Belgian coast is one of the ugliest in the world, but fortunately something is being done about that. Indeed, there are many top projects in the pipeline that will boost the architectural value of the sea. We give you a foretaste of all the beauty to come and take you on a dyke tour from Nieuwpoort to Knokke. We are looking forward to a blissful summer at the Belgian coast!
La Naturale in Zeebrugge

At the coastline of some 60 km, it is hard to find a project as unique as the La Naturale residence. The building has the allure of the villas that line it, but consists of three flats of which only the duplex penthouse of 153 m² is still available. Thanks to the large windows and terraces, you can enjoy a phenomenal view of the beach and the sea both inside and outside – at the front – and of the dunes and water features – at the back. In terms of location, architecture and finish, this is the ultimate. Guide price: 1.650.000 euro

Europe in Bredene

The renowned bureau Binst Architects was commissioned by Groep Versluys to design this special project. It is close to Bart Versluys’ heart, because his grandfather built the Europa Hotel here long ago. The building has 81 flats with one, two or three bedrooms and, above all, two exclusive penthouses. The location is special: close to the Staf Versluys cultural centre and with a panoramic view of the dunes. Flats with two bedrooms are available from 235,000 euros.

Louise On Top in Knokke

The exclusivity of this project can only be found in Knokke. Louise On Top is a four-storey extension to an existing building on the corner of the Zeedijk. Four mezzanine flats will appear on the 7th and 8th floors and the 9th and 10th floors will be the new home of the owners of three duplex flats. The cream of the crop measures no less than 209 m², has four bedrooms and a terrace of 23 m². The asking price was 3,000,000 euros, but it has now been sold, just like the rest of the project.

One Beach in De Haan

After more than thirty years, construction will resume on the sea dyke of De Haan. With respect for the special environment, One Beach will be built in the typical Concession style. The building offers nine flats, crowned by a majestic penthouse with a living area of 184 m² and 43 m² of terraces. In addition to the four bedrooms, the special architecture of the penthouse catches the eye, as the space is opened up four metres high, all the way to the ridge. At the front you can enjoy the sea and on the south terrace at the back you have a view of the historic Concession. There are still two flats available. They cost 900,000 and 1,350,000 euro respectively.

O’Sea in Ostend

Within a few years, the skyline of Ostend will have several new landmarks, especially thanks to Bart Versluys who is transforming the Oosteroever into one of the hippest spots in the city. But the O’Sea high-rise is also a sight to behold. It is a combination of flats and assisted living. The location is excellent: you only have to cross the street and you are on the beach. The golf course, the media centre with cinema and the hippodrome are also just a stone’s throw away. Flats with sea view start at 295,000 euro.
