The View Marbella, an exclusive piece of Costa del Sol
With an endless view of the unspoilt nature of Andalusia, ‘The View Marbella’ has certainly earned its name. The first luxury flat in this award-winning residential project on the Costa del Sol is now a fact. Interest is high – especially among Belgians and Scandinavians – and confirms the exceptional growth that the top segment of the real estate market is experiencing today. “The corona pandemic has changed our way of life and living”, says Olaf Claessens, the Belgian investor behind Wilma Sierra Blanca developing the exclusive luxury project in Marbella.
The View Marbella, best national and international housing project 2021
‘The View Marbella’, with a gross development value of 130 million euros, has not missed its start. During the International Property Awards Development, the circular complex of 109 spacious flats was chosen as the best national and international residential project 2020-2021. Construction is proceeding in two phases: the first comprises 49 luxury flats and is in progress. In the spring of 2022, sales of the second phase will start, with an additional 60 flats.
Pedro Antonio Rodríguez, managing partner of Wilma Sierra Blanca, which specialises in the development of luxury projects: “Today, 80% of the first phase has been sold. A very high percentage, especially if you know that we started in the middle of the corona period. Our luxury flats are very popular with Belgians and Scandinavians. Belgians were already among the top five buyers of Spanish property, but today they are also increasingly investing in the high-end niche market.
Unprecedented interest in luxury real estate
In addition, Marbella has become a major player in the world of luxury resorts. Olaf Claessens, the Belgian investor behind Wilma Sierra Blanca: “The pandemic has strongly influenced our lives, which is also very clear from where and how people want to live. The luxury real estate sector has had an unprecedented success; we are recording exceptional sales in this top segment of the market. Many owners say they want to make their second home in Marbella their main residence. Buyers are attracted to the quality property in Marbella and the Costa del Sol lifestyle.
The 2021 market report on property in Marbella – compiled by real estate agency Panorama, which has been active in the region for 50 years – confirms the trend of increased investment in the luxury market. The agency itself recorded a 68% growth in this segment for the first half of 2021, compared to the average sales figure for the first six months in 2019 (for corona).
The Marbella region is also becoming increasingly popular with Belgians. This is in line with previous property figures (2020) for the province of Malaga, where Belgians (9%) close the top three foreign buyers – after the British (19%) and the Swedes (13%).
The View Marbella, ambitious residential project
The View Marbella, located between the resort itself and the typical mountain village of Benahavis, is an ambitious project of 109 luxury flats on a plot of 50,000 m2. The design is by Teodoro Cabrilla, whose architectural style always seeks dialogue with nature.
Catching the eye is the original circular construction, good for a panoramic view of the hills of Marbella and a view of the Mediterranean coast. The flats combine generous living spaces, with two, three or four bedrooms, with access to luxury services such as a spa, gym, five swimming pools, yoga, gardens, 24-hour security and an exclusive concierge service.
Pedro Antonio Rodríguez: “You could say that The View Marbella is a unique project on the Costa del Sol, with special attention to privacy and attention to detail, both in architecture and interior design. The interior design is certainly inspired by Belgian and Scandinavian design. The View Marbella is the first of several real estate projects that we intend to develop with Wilma Sierra Blanca in this coveted region of Southern Spain.”
