2* Michelin restaurant The Jane in Antwerp attracts, in addition to its high quality gastronomy, also a lot of public with its outstanding architecture and design both inside and outside the chapel.
Before serving as a restaurant, the building was a military hospital that moved into a chapel. Both the chapel itself and the entire site around the building were thus renovated after years of vacancy. The designer Piet Boon was responsible for the design of the restaurant, and attention was also paid to some eye-catching details in the design. For those details, he joined hands with some specialised artists and craftsmen.

In collaboration with DIM Atelier, Architect Dieter Vander Velpen created a fourteen-part light installation called ‘Sharks‘. This work was a limited edition, specially designed for the restaurant, with a rough inside and a highly polished outside. Each of these fourteen pieces was self-cast, numbered and hand-finished.
