Never just say G&T to a T&T. Tanqueray is a British classic of a gin that, with its recognisable, spicy notes, can be drunk as an aperitif. But how do you match the ‘perfect serve’ of a seasoned cocktail connoisseur?
Serving the perfect G&T starts with choosing the right bottle of gin. Tanqueray London Dry Gin has been a classic among connoisseurs for almost two centuries – which is why they call it a T&T.
Today the iconic green bottle continues the tradition, and that has everything to do with the perfect balance of botanicals in this gin. Fresh juniper, spicy coriander, the aroma of angelica and the gentle touch of liquorice are the foundation, but it’s their carefully considered proportions that make Tanqueray incontournable in any bar.

Now that you know which gin to choose, it’s a matter of paying attention to the details. Centuries of savoir-faire deserve to be served beautifully. Choose a classic Copa balloon glass in which you can hear the ice cubes tinkling nicely. Pour in your favourite tonic – Fever Tree is always a good idea – and top it off with some lime to bring out the soft lemon flavour of the gin even more. Et voilà, it’s cocktail o’clock.
This is how you serve the perfect T&T
35ml Tanqueray Gin
Fever Tree tonic
One slice plus a wedge of fresh lime
- Fill a Copa glass two-thirds full of ice
- Place a lime wedge on top of the ice cubes
- Pour 30ml Tanqueray Gin through the lime wedge
- Do the same with the tonic
- Go around the rim of the glass with the lime wedge, squeeze the juice and let the wedge plunge into your glass
- Scroll the cocktail around in the glass and serve

Liking it with a twist?
For those who like to mix their T&T with sunshine from the south, there is Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla. Made with the generous taste of Seville oranges, the same ones that Charles Tanqueray used for his original gin recipe in 1830. As balanced as the London Dry Gin, but amber and bittersweet, making it a perfect aperitif.
