Well, the Margarita is one of those cocktails of which we will probably never know how it originated. There are different stories about the origin of this cocktail. Whether it originated in Mexico or the United States is something we may never know. What we do know is that it was intended as a cleaner way to drink tequila. The Margarita cocktail has numerous recipes and variations. Discover our favourites below!
- Spicy Jalapeño Mango Margarita
This unique Margarita has just the right amount of sweet, spicy and salty. Perfect for an evening of outdoor bbq’ing. The jalapeño provides the delicious, spicy, fresh taste. In Mexico, this Margarita is served with a salted chilli rim. An alternative to this rim is the herb mix ‘Tajin’. Dipping your glass in herbs definitely gives a nice twist to your cocktail!

Ingredients:
6 cl. Tequila
3 cl. Cointreau
the juice of one lime
12 cl. fresh mango juice
2 small jalapeños
crushed ice
limes for garnish
fresh mango, diced
Tajin – or your favourite chilli salt mixture for the rim
Preparation:
- Bake the jalapeños until blackened. Set aside one jalapeño for garnish.
- Make a nice crustarand on your cocktail glass. To do this, take a clean glass and rub the top rim (approx. 1 cm) of the glass with a wedge of lime and dip it in Tajin seasoning, set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add a few slices of charred jalapeño and a few pieces of fresh mango. Stir well with the back of a wooden spoon or a cocktail spatula.
- Add tequila, lime juice and mango juice and shake until chilled.
- Slide into a cocktail glass filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with a skewer of mango drizzled with Tajin, your second charred jalapeño and a slice of lime.
- Enjoy!
