To revive mid-century design genius and geometry, the 1953 table designs by leading American designer Paul McCobb have been relaunched by Fritz Hansen in 2018. The Planner ™ tables were originally released with a thin marble tabletop with a distinctive natural and unique look. This popular mid-century table collection makes its return today with additional sizes and new marble tabletops.
McCobb’s signature Planner tables are now also available as coffee and side tables, further extending Fritz Hansen’s timeless range. The updated marble ideally complements McCobb’s design and replaces the original marble from the previous table formats.

Nero Marquina from northern Spain uses fossil sediments, creating a vibrant aesthetic between the black colour of the base and the white marble.
Following McCobb’s design philosophy, the two elements of the table are perfectly balanced.
The polished marble table top is placed on an elegant and sturdy steel frame, but its light and floating look is preserved. A striking detail is the narrowing of the steel at the bottom – a perfect example of the many distinctive elements of a real McCobb.

“Paul McCobb’s design is very refined and simple, almost seeming to float. It is timeless, yet contemporary, as it maintains some unchanged aesthetic principles. I feel McCobb’s design aesthetic is a beautiful reflection of the essence of a classic furniture icon,” he declares.
