As the summer holidays draw nearer, we are starting to dream again of white beaches and crystal clear seas. Due to our unwelcome guest, Corona, who has been taking over our lives undisturbed for a couple of months now, an intercontinental trip to the Maldives or Caribbean is not yet possible. But who says you have to cross the ocean to enjoy these paradisiacal scenes? In fact, you can just go there by car. So what do you say? Hop in our imaginary car and let us transport you to paradise Hvar.

The Saint-Tropez of Croatia
For decades, Hvar has been known as the holiday resort of choice for various celebrities. With its exclusive harbour, this Croatian island is a favourite among the rich and famous. In this port, you can regularly spot the yachts of many celebrities, such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Keira Knightly and Prince Harry. With a bit of luck, you may also bump into Tom Cruise and Giorgio Armani when you are on holiday in Hvar.

Be sure to go on a shopping spree before your holiday and get that red carpet dress out of the closet, because an evening dining at this port will soon feel like a fashion show. Immerse yourself in all the glitz and glamour and, with a bit of luck, you might even get Tom Cruise’s number on your holiday.
Culture and History
In addition to its jetset content, Hvar can also enrich you culturally with its historic castles and fortresses. One of the cultural highlights of Hvar is the Spanish fort, also called Fortica. The Spanish fort is located in Hvar town and can be reached by a small hike. From the top of the Spanish fort you have a beautiful view of the island and the harbour. For the influencers and Instagram fanatics among us, this picture perfect setting is the ideal backdrop for that long-awaited Instagram post of your holiday. Even for the average Fleming with somewhat limited photography skills, a photo from the Spanish fortress will not disappoint. So don’t forget to bring your camera!

Carpe Diem: From beach club…
Last but not least, Hvar is famous for its exclusive beach clubs. Our favourite is the Carpe Diem beach club. From Hvar harbour, Carpe Diem’s private boats take us to a apart island next to Hvar in the Adriatic Sea. This remote and idyllic place is the ideal place to enjoy undisturbed baking and roasting.

The beachclub is located on one of the typical rocky beaches of the Adriatic coastline. The rough texture and grey-grey colour of the landscape gives a natural, unrefined look to the whole picture. Furthermore, the beach club is decorated according to an authentic mix of Greek and Croatian style elements. The white cabanas with draped curtains give us Greek goddess vibes, while the rubber wood finish adds a touch of ruggedness typical of Slavic countries. The combination of these stylistic elements creates a wonderful balance between rough and refined. From our cabana, we enjoy the sunshine and a delicious cocktail all day long.
… to party island
In the evening, the beach transforms from beach club into a real party island. We take the boat back to Hvar, where we get ready for a party night and have a bite to eat in town. The shuttle boats between Hvar and Carpe Diem run all night at fixed hours, so everyone gets to the island safely. In the summer months, before Corona turned life completely upside down, Carpe Diem provided djs every night to get the party started. There were also occasional themed evenings such as, blacklight party, foam party, and many more. We are looking forward with a tingling feeling in our stomachs to the moment when this will again be possible.

Do you like glitter, glamour, in short the real jetset feeling? Then the maintained island of Hvar is definitely the right place for you. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags, dust off those swimming costumes and book your ticket to Croatia for the summer of 2021!
